Article in the Evening Telegraph Saturday 29th October 2011 - 'Karen from Body Sanctuary and Elaine from Holistic Ways in Rushden, are offering a number of treatment slots each month free of charge to women diagnosed with breash cancer and the people who care for them, in a bid to give women battling the disease a chance to swap the stark surroundings of hospitals for the calming experience of a treatment. Karen is offering holistic and beauty treatments and Elaine is offering complementary therapies in reflexology, Reiki, Indian Head Massage, facials, manicures and pedicures. Karen said they had also wanted to offer the treatments as a way of giving back to the local community...Karen and Elaine are both members of Crazy Hats and feel that they are ambassadors for the charity to make sure everyone is aware there is this support network and you are not alone. Body Sanctuary supported the 9th Annual Crazy Hats Walk at Wicksteed Park on 27th March 2011 by heading up the team of therapists in the Pamper Tent. The walk was very successful again this year, and no rain!!!!
October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Body Sanctuary once again supported Crazy Hats Breast Cancer Appeal by running a lucky dip in the Salon, and Karen donated a percentage of every treatment as well. We raised a total of £80.00 for the charity, and would like to thank all clients who contributed to this worthy cause.
Thank you to everyone who donated to 'Name The Teddy' in the salon over Christmas and New Year. We raised £52.00 for Crazy Hats Breast Cancer Appeal.
Karen successfully completed a tandem skydive on Sunday 26th July 2009 at Sibson Airfield, Peterborough. It was an incredible experience, frightening and exhilerating at the same time, but not one she wants to repeat in a hurry!!! A total of £910 has been pledged so far for the Crazy Hats Breast Cancer Appeal. Final total raised over £1000 WOW!!!
Body Sanctuary managed to raise in excess of £250 with pledges from clients and friends for the Crazy Hat walk in Wicksteed Park in 2008. Karen would like to thank everyone who donated to this most worthwhile charity. This year, Karen is taking part in a tandem skydive on Sunday July 19th at Sibson Airport near Peterborough. Anyone wishing to add to sponsorship can call her direct at the salon.
On sale in the Salon are personally signed copies of the novels by Lois Fenn (Karen's Mum and she is very proud of her!!), the Magic Mooncat, priced now at only £3.00 (original published price of 8.99), and new novel Cobwebs in Time priced at £8.99 or both together at £10.00, with a proportion of proceedings from sales going to The Crazy Hats Breast Cancer Appeal.
